Abstract

|
Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia is an uncommon dysproteinemia with diverse
clinical manifestations characterized by anemia, bleeding diathesis, variable
Iymphadenopathy and hepatosplenomegaly, elevated ESR, infiltration of marrow by
Iymphoid plasma cells and abnormal elevation of serum globulin.
We have experienced a case of Waldenstom's Macroglobulinemia. The 71-year-old
male patient was admitted to our hospital because of intermittent epistaxis and general
weakness. Hypergammaglobulinemia was noted and IgM lambda type was identified by
immunoelectrophoresis. Bone marrow findings revealed small Iymphocytes and
plasmacytid Iymphocyte infiltration, sometimes with intranuclear inclusions.
He was treated with Chlorambucil and now he improves slightly in clinical and
laboratory aspects.
We report this rare case with review of literatures.
